XP-120 CASE compatibility

I recently jumped on the new s939 Optie bandwagon, and I'm waiting for my processor while looking for the other components I'm going to throw in. Of course, I'm o/cing 🙂

So, I was looking at the Lian-Li 6070Plus as a case option, but I'm concerned that the heatsink I'm looking at getting (Thermalright XP-120) will interfere with the rear case fan. I know it won't fit with the air duct that comes with the case (at least unmodded). Does anyone have this heatsink and case . . . or just this HS with a case that it fits well in . . . or doesn't?

If anyone could help point me in the right direction of some more info, I'd be very appreciative. I'm looking at pairing this with a pretty high cfm fan, so any kind of case with a bit of noise reduction would be nice, or just a very cool one 🙂

I'm looking in the $100-$150 range (without PSU), but I won't skimp a few bucks and miss out on good performance.

From what i've heard, most end-up removing the duct and don't even use it. I'd like to have a cast off duct to mod for something else.

Since your at the shopping stage and seem to want Lian Li as your case, i would suggest the PC-7 plus. It can be bought for about $100. Just make sure it has been fitted for 120mm fans front and rear. But it has no front door. Front doors generally restrict air flow and if your going to OC on air, why have a door? If you go Lian Li or any other case don't load up the HDD cage in front of the intake fan as it will block air flow. Stagger the drives or move one up to the 3.5" bay.

I'm in a long drawn out build right now and purchased a new type of fan. If your life can go on w/o twinkling LED fans 😛 Check out the Delta Triple Bladed fans. I just ordered a 120mm high speed for an intake @140cfm. Crazy? Maybe not. The two 92mm high speed of this type i have undervolt and run alone quite nicely at 4V and can not be heard at 6". These are rated @ 76cfm(iirc). One will go on the XP-90C. The other as an exhaust in an old modded Lian Li mid-tower. Delta offers a 120mm@75+cfm in the Triple Blade. The down side, it costs $16 at the moment. The Panaflo i was going to use for intake will now be a desktop personal fan.. True!
