flash is on a decline. I dont have an iPad anymore, but when i did have it I barely missed flash. Flash is not being adopted by more websites, it is being dropped by them. Its not on an uptick when it comes to usage.
Hang on, you're posting opinion as fact. None of those 'facts' are true. If they are, link to the related research.

Engadget says it's just a placeholder price.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/13/motorola-xoom-up-for-pre-order-at-best-buy-for-1-199/

Personally I think for it to make good headway, it's going to HAVE to be dished out with some serious deals at the $800 price point. Like most everyone else has said, to start taking away a significant chunk of the tablet market, it's going to have to perform equal to an iPad and ideally cost less. I want a tablet, but I'm still waiting on the iPad 2 and the other tablets (Android/WebOS) to come out before I really make a decision. Hopefully by then if the Xoom is still near the top, hopefully it's price will have come down.

If this $1200 price sticks, I am speechless.

Seriously.

That is ridiculous. I like Motorola, and seriously hoped they would position the Xoom to actually compete in the Tablet market. If that price is real, they aren't positioning it as a Tablet.

It won't perform equal to an ipad because it doesn't have any decent apps, google this google that is fun but is not the meat when it comes to a purchase decision, and knowing the smartphone game this thing will have a hard time getting any updates.

and how many here put down Apple and its ipad about it being overpriced? This kind of tech in decent quality is going to be expensive for a while.
Though you can buy an HP Touchsmart txt2 for the xoom's price.

i think a really low placeholder would work better. it would get people into reading everything about it in anticipation, waiting for release day, then if its $800 + or whatever, the hype people generated in their mind would give more likely reason to buy it anyway. But scare them off with a $1200 place holder and they'll just laugh and ignore any other ideas of wanting it.

$100 too high.

This. All the tards in this forum always talk about the 'apple tax' on an iPhone that is priced right in line with their android counterparts. When will they start talking about the 'apple discount' when it comes to tablets?

$799 unsubsidized $600 for Wifi version

Still too expensive. It doesn't matter if it can do more or not, they need to price these in line with the iPad. $500 and I would think it's priced right.

There you have it, folks -- the exhausting saga of the Xoom's pricing has finally been laid to rest by Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha. Reuters reports a $799 levy for the 32GB Honeycomb tablet when bought with 3G (which will be upgraded to 4G) connectivity from Verizon sans subsidies, while Jha is also quoted as saying that a WiFi-only version will set buyers back only $600. The latter price matches the 32GB iPad directly, however the 3G Xoom is $70 more expensive than the Apple alternative. Sanjay failed to say when said pricing or models will become available, but there have been strong indications that pre-orders or reservations will begin tomorrow (at least at Best Buy), with the tablet launching in full on Thursday next week.

So Wifi only Xoom will be $600 confirmed by Motorola. Thoughts now?

$600 seems workable to me if it's on par with the iPad in terms of responsiveness and has similar to better features. I'll judge if I think it's worth $600 when I play with one at Best Buy when they get them.

$800 seemed a stretch, $1200 was ludicruous.

The iPad seemed stupid and overpriced to me when I first heard about it, but once I tried one in a store, I really liked it and now I use it more than my desktop for surfing and reading at nights. $500 seemed like a lot, but given how often I use mine, I end up wishing I'd at least paid for the GPS option (WiFi version has no GPS).

It's hard to believe that Apple could be considered a value leader in a product category, but here we are. If these guys (Moto, Samsung, HP, LG, etc.) can't sell a worthwhile 10" tablet for $500 then they shouldn't even bother.
