Dear XoloX-user,

Taking into account the latest law suits against p2p clients based on Fasttrack-technology (such as Kazaa), we have decided to discontinue XoloX. As of 1st of december, XoloX will be shut down and removed from distribution sites. We hope everybody has enjoyed XoloX as long as it has been around and we want to use this opportunity to thank everybody who made a contribution to its development. These last few days will give you some time to finish your downloads and we advise you not to start new transfers. If you want to migrate to another p2p client we advise you to visit the Zeropaid website (www.zeropaid.com) for orientation.

Thanks again and goodbye!

I am kind of confused here. If xolox is p2p, how can it be shut down? I thought all you needed for p2p was 2 or more computers and file sharing software...

What is being "shut down"? Does this mean simply that they will no longer put out newer software, or are they going to send a poisen pill to all of our boxes (Xolox has "automatic software upgrading")?
Is there some way we can disable the automatic upgrading?

R.I.P. my beloved XoloX :( (even though you sucked up half my resources when launching and would not give them back after closing you)
