XNA side scroller game

I'm trying to dive into XNA but man I really don't understand what the hell is going on. My programming skills are ok in C# nothing awesome. I just don't get the logic in making a game.

Does anyone know of specific site that has good tutorials on a side scroller like Streets of Rage?
 
i'de try something simpler than a side scroller. maybe a puzzle game (move blocks around to make pic) or maybe something super basic. i'm just now getting started with XNA so i'm not much help 😛
