i have an a7n8x-e mobo and xms pc3200 LL memory that is capeple of 2-2-2-5 timming and i was told and have seen on tomshardware review that i could run it at atleast 2-3-2-6 timming. though my bios isent up to date. when i read the review at tomshardware they had a bios version older then mine. they were using 1008 version and i have 1009 right now and there is a 1011 out at the moment. but as of now my timming is at 2.5-3-3-6 so if i drop it im not risking blowing the memory because its supost to be able to do it right? and if i do set it to low what dose the computer usually do? no boot? or dose the POST Test tell me somthing? what should i expect? thanks guys for the help..

How did you get it set CAS 2.5? Did you do that yourself? (setting to *expert* or user defined ?)

It SPD's to 2-2-3-6 or 2-3-2-6, if you go for "turbo" it'll be 2-2-2-5 (not sure what term your BIOS uses)

If you set the timings too low, it likely won't post, thats all. Clear the CMOS and you're good to go. Otherwise, you'll just be unstable.

The ram is guaranteed for life (at least mine is), so if you set it to SPD and it doesn't work stablely, they should replace it for you.

BTW, there seems to be two version of 3200LL, IIRC the best had BH5 chips, the newer stuff doesn't. The BH5 stuff is what ran 2-2-2-5 @ FSB 200. Mine won't, it'll only do 2-3-2-6 or whatever (can't remember where the *3* goes!).

No need to run 3200LL at CAS 2.5 bottom line (unless you OC the FSB way high)
