Love the service, and would gladly pay the fees to use it but I do not believe they'll get that amount of signatures in time :(

"But first, the punch line: we’re revisiting the idea of Xmarks as a premium service. We’ve set up a Pledgebank page where you can sign up if you’re willing to pay at least $10 a year for Xmarks. No credit card is required, but please only pledge if you are genuinely willing and able to pay:"

you can setup Xmarks on your own server if want.

I like Xmarks cause its cross-bowser can sync different browsers firefor IE safari, its one thing built-in syncs on firefox chrome etc not have :/

XMarks Lives!

Thank you for your continued support of Xmarks through this transitional time. After a near-brush with shutting down, we're now happy to report that Xmarks has been acquired by LastPass, the leading password and data manager.

The acquisition means two things for Xmarks users:

  • Xmarks is NOT shutting down! It will continue to be the same free service that you know and love.
  • Xmarks now offers a Premium service for $12 per year that includes the iPhone and Android apps, advanced features, and priority support.
We hope that as an active Xmarks user, you will consider upgrading to Xmarks Premium to gain access to these features. Your support will not only ensure our long-term viability, but will also help accelerate the introduction of new features and service improvements.

We're excited to continue providing the best data-syncing tools out there!

Thanks,
The LastPass and Xmarks Teams
