So my rents want to buy me a year subscription and get my xm radio hooked up in my car.

I have the Delphi SkiFi2 and home kit.

What are my options when hooking it up to car? I have a stock cd player. No tape player, and stereo is stock.

use the wireless FM transmitter. If you dont like the quality of that, go out and buy the hardwire FM modulator and wire it up to the back of your factory cd player. Those are your options

Well, can you link me to what i need.

I see the car kit comes with the tape player. Will I have to buy the docking station, antenna and modulator seperatly? Hows the modulator sound??

Should I just get xm ready headunit

The car kit comes with all you need. The FM mod is internal in the skyfi 2.

If you get an xm ready headunit you can bring it inside with you when youre out of the car, and its a whole other radio, so if you want xm in the home, thats another 7 bucks. Plus, its not as intutitve as the skyfi, even if it is very clean and internal and all. It is also a much bigger pain the the ass to install, involves splicing into the power lines etc.

The mod sounds almost as good as the best fm station you can get...in order words, not that good. If you live in a city where every single station is taken up, itll sound even worse because of the interference.

You can find an adapter to hook into the CD changer port on your stock stereo if it has the port.

The car kit you talk of though has the tape deck thingy. I dont have a tape deck.

Adapter huh. Can you link me to one and a cradle and what i need

You still need the car kit. It includes the cradle, the power adapter, the antenna, and the mounting stuff. Its not just the cassette adapter. You just dont use the tape is all.

If you really want a badass XM head unit, I can sell you my panasonic CQ-C7310U HU, (MP3/WMA, title/artist for xm and all that good stuff) and XM direct kit, for $175. Im taking it out of my car so I figure Id shoot the offer off.

But I like being able to bring it inside, which is why Im ditching the HU. Sounds great though. :p

I can link you to the adapter if you tell me what car you have. But your stereo MUST have cd changer controls, and it certainly isnt cheap. Youll still need the car kit either way.

I have the same question. Pretty much the only thing I asked for for xmas was a XM radio so I thinik they will prob just get me that and thats about it. I wil lthen have that and a MP3 player that I want to hook up to my car. My tape deck doesnt work with those things that let you use your CD player for some reason. It just thinks its over and ejects it.

I have a 93 Camry SE. It has a stock Stereo and CD player. How do you do this thing with the CD player so i can hook in these two electronics. Will my camry be able to do that and waht do I need.

Is a link to the adapter. But you MUST have cd changer controls built into your factory radio, not all of them have it. 1993 camry doesnt look like its on the list.

My suggestion to you is to get the audiovox xr9 with car kit. Its a great radio, and it has an additional port that you can plug your mp3 player into, and then transmit both over the internal fm mod.

If you can get the cassette adapter to work, you should, because itll sound better than the fm mod.

Yeah i dont think they had CD changers in 93 in cars. That sucks..I really want a direct line in..i dont want the crappy FM sound( I love music and quality is important to me)

If anyone has any opinions on how to get the cassette player to work I am all ears. Its one of the side loaders where you push it in the long way. It goes it and plays for 1 sec and then pops out..I assume it thinks its reached the end of the tape and spits it out. Cant figure out how to trick to stay in..or even if theer is a way.

My suggestion to you is to get a either a XM ready head unit and xm direct adapter, or a head unit with an aux input that you can plug the external xm radio into. Or just use the fm mod, and get used to it. :p
