So my friend randomly wanted XM radio and has been bugging me for the past couple of days to sell him my Delphi 1. I bought it when Best Buy had them on a real good deal if anyone remembers the huge FW thread on it. I was using it in my jetta, but when it broke down, I tossed it aside in my room. Well today I went to test it before I sell it, and the THING FVCKING WORKS. All I know is that I recieved one bill from them, and honestly cant remember if I even paid it for about $20. My friend just came over to purchase it, and I called him before to say, its basically not for sale until I figure out whats going on. I have never seen him so mad before and he sped off. I tried to get into the xm site but I dont even remember what email address i used to sign up. Any xm people know if the thing automattically shuts off at some point? Because at this point I should owe them about $250. Thanks.

I believe you have to set it upwith a credit card or a automatic bank draft. I don't think they will mail you a bill. At least, they wouldn't last year when I bought mine

I set it up with my debit card. I am pretty sure that was the card that i lost at a pizza place and canceled.

I am listening to the mets game now. I might not to be able to talk to a friend for a couple of days, but he will get over it. I told him its the same as a tivo or replaytv with a possible lifetime subscription, they are automatically worth more money.

WOOT. My sportsbook gave me a VIP bonus of 50 bucks and I put the money on the mets, and they are up 6 to 1 :p

Not that I support this type of thing, but a simple google search says this:

"Well, basically the same thing. XM broadcasts a cancellation signal, which tells
your radio to stop receiving the full XM content. Again this signal must be
personalized to your Radio ID. But what if you radio never gets the cancellation
signal?
Bingo. While I have no XM radio to test this with, the shear overhead in
having to transmit personalized cancellation signals for every radio that has
canceled service on a regular basis is simply too great a task for the limited
bandwidth they have. Granted, they probably transmit a cancellation signal less
often over a longer number of hours (such as once an hour for 360 hours), but
its simply too much overhead to keep it up for long. XM's security could be
defeated by something as simple as turning the radio off for a month."

Just finished the install today, took about a good 3 hours to completely remove the center console, and hide all the wires, and put everything back together. Still works great, and even if it does go away, i would even renew the sub. :)

I've been listening to XM for free for at least 2 years now... best 20 bucks i ever spent.

I was in the position your friend is in, but in my version, the seller didn't know that the box still worked.
