Hey guys,

Looks like i'm going to be commuting about 2 hours a day for a while now. And the radio station tends to get fuzzy for part of that ride (driving between hills etc). So thinking of maybe getting a satellite radio service.

Main things I'd like:
NPR
cheap/easy install
low monthly fee since i'm betting more then likely i'll only listen to it those 2 hours in the car
ability to listen through a web page
ability to listen at home
and i'd give a little preference to which ever one has howard stern, all other things being equal

Suggestions as to which service/model radio to get?

thanks

Sirius - Starmate or Sportster unit

ETA -

Main things I'd like:
NPR - Sirius has 2 NPR channels
cheap/easy install - Sirius
low monthly fee since i'm betting more then likely i'll only listen to it those 2 hours in the car - Sirius
ability to listen through a web page - Sirius
ability to listen at home - Sirius - just buy an antenna for home and bring your unit inside to listen from it or listen through the web
and i'd give a little preference to which ever one has howard stern, all other things being equal - Sirius

Sirius has Howard Stern, also, XM sucks for the music I listen to (electronica and trance). I can listen to XM right on my AIM buddy list (Triton has it), so I have a bit of idea of what both have to offer since I own Sirius.

Sirius also has it where you can listen on their website as streaming audio.

I have two subs to Sirius and one to XM, and I hardly ever listen to XM now that baseball is done. They do have a punk channel that is fun every now and then, but other than that Sirius gets the win.

sorry i didnt notice the thread someone else started. Between this thread and that one it seems like sirius takes the lead. More people seem to have it (which doesnt always mean its better) but i also saw a few people who said they switched from XM to sirius and like it better. So that seems like a good vote for sirius.

I'll look at those two radio models.

thanks

Do you not know that XM also has every one of those things you attributed to Sirius?

EDIT: For what it's worth, I have XM. I chose XM over Sirius mainly because they carry MLB games, and living in Massachusetts, I can't get clear Yankees games over AM.

Music selection is pretty similar between the two. I believe that both have commercials on a FEW stations now. It really all comes down to personal preference, as monthy cost is about the same.

Wow, XM has Stern? Amazing.

Seriously though, every person I know that has XM and Sirius, prefer Sirius. I like it because of the comedy channel (Raw Dog) and Stern. XM has a comedy channel, but I like Raw Dog A LOT better. Also, I think Sirius has better programming for the music I listen to. I won't even buy a car that only offers XM. :p

oh FYI, i dont care about sports channels at all. So thats a non-issue for me.

Looking over some of the sirius radio models now. I'll probably have to go with which ever one is the smallest since i dont have a lot of dash space (toyota celica).

I'm not too concerned with what XM has because I'm a Sirius fan. LOL :p

With the exception of MLB, Sirius is the winner by far in the sports area. Sirius has the NFL, NBA, college basketball and football, NHL, and now NASCAR.

I recommend the Starmate Replay then.
