This is my first post and I think that I am making it a good one. I found a Xircom WAP model APWE1120 for $119 + shipping. I searched pricegrabber.com for this and the closest that anyone else had it listed for was $233. This is almost 1/2 off (once you add in shipping for the others, it is 1/2 off).

Here is the link:
Xircom WAP

The site is listing that they have 495 of them so you may want to hurry.

my 2 cents...

2.4 GHz ones are not good for a home with lots of walls and rooms. They don't work. Dropped connections etc.

The price is "you get what you pay for" good!

All 802.11b devices are 2.4GHz aren't they? What do you recommend using for wireless networking? I haven't had any problems with my stuff.

Yeah as far as I know all 802.11x are 2.4ghz. There's also a standard that uses the 900mhz band but those are even worse for walls and rooms.

If it has an external antennae hookup, or is highly rated, then it might be a warm deal. Otherwise, this is just an access point and the price is above average with other brands. Good enough to post about and hope someone can find a better deal though! That's the classic way to get around the "iwanna" restriction.

Other options (For Wireless Access Points - NOT ROUTERS/Gateways):

TigerDirect has a Gigafast for $125 -$25 rebate = $99. They also have a few others priced a little higher. (They also have the $49.99 Lucent/IBM/Orinco/3Com adapters.)

AMAZON - DLINK WAP for $139 w/ free shipping and $40 Rebate (Final A/R = $99) -or- Buy.com has it for $134.95 +Free Shipping - $40 rebate = $94.95

Buy.com - SMC WAP for $119. NO Rebate

Actually, only 802.11b is on the 2.4 gig spectrum. 802.11a is on the 5ghz frequency.
