I have both versions and the SD-964 is very comparable in performance to the S1283. It also has the option to add a second fan if you desire. Like scruffypup already mentioned, the 92mm fan is much louder when running full tilt. With that said, the only time my fan ran full out (after setting speed options in the BIOS) was when I was stress testing.

I have the 3 heatpipe version, the 963, and I'm idling in the low 30's with my e7200 @ 3.6

I'm thinking regardless of what version of xigmatek you can't really go wrong as they are pretty solid coolers all the way around. Sure the 120mm will be more efficient, but if space is an issue, don't sweat moving down to the 92mm version.

I should have expanded upon initial post. Unless you are trying for maximum cooling, then yes there will be little difference here. The 92mm versions of the tower will let you comfortably overclock quite a bit if you want to.

There are a few to look at that should be very good:
Xigmatek Sd964 @ newegg for ~$34 with shipping included and has a $10 Rebate
Artic Cooling Freezer 7 @ newegg for $27 free shipping
Vendetta @ newegg for ~$43 with shipping included and has a $8 Rebate

I am a bit biased towards the Xigmatek models, but the freezer is a good price/performance without dealing with rebates,... the vendetta is a bit high pricewise in my opinion.
