Thats a kickass phone.
I love that it has a 4.3" 720p screen.
Sadly we won't see it here unless you order it online somewhere.

Wow, I would almost buy that if it was pentaband and would work on T-Mobile, but I can't find any information on that and so doubt it is.

The specs I saw said Euro/ATT tri-band.

Dont worry, we'll see quad-krait name-band phones soon enough.

It's quite amazing Xiaomi can launch a phone with those specs for $315 USD, when Apple launched the iPhone in China for $800 USD.

The bulk of China's smartphone buyers (current and potential) can't afford phones costing more than $150-$250, which is where firms like Xiaomi, ZTE and Huawei thrive.

they're apparently selling it under cost, there's a quote in the AT article which mentions the BOM is $370

For $320 They must have cut corners somewhere on the phone, I'm assuming build quality. I would think it would have problems and something would break sooner than most phones.

But for $300 and those specs the phone seems awesome would buy it if it had a lot of dev support. This is the 1st s4 pro phone I've seen announced too.

It seems they're just selling under cost. It's already well known that the margins on the $700 phones is approaching 100%

Was there any information about LTE capabilities?

Found this:

  • 1.7 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • Adreno 320 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen at 1280×720 pixel resolution
  • 8 megapixel rear camera (with upgraded F/2.0 lens)
  • 2 megapixel front camera
  • HDMI-compatible USB port
  • HSPA+ connectivity up to 42 Mbps
The seams on this thing make me wanna cry

Granted it's not the finished product, but that construction needs to be tightened up a lot.

Link? I always thought profit margins weren't that high on phones after all operating costs?

The BOM and manufacturing costs are somtimes available from isuppli.com. They even sometimes include the overhead costs when going to retail.

For instance, the iPhone 4s teardown showed its BOM was $188 (http://www.isuppli.com/Teardowns/News/Pages/iPhone-4S-Carries-BOM-of-$188,-IHS-iSuppli-Teardown-Analysis-Reveals.aspx) and manufacturing was $8 for a total of $196

Hmm, but nothing about LTE, still nice of course.

Exactly. The cost to build these things isn't really that high. And being a Chinese company, even if selling at a loss, the government is probably making up the difference.

Not that I am in the market for a phone but if I were I wouldn't buy this if it doesn't have an sdcard. I already am running out of my 48gb and need more.preferably 128gb sd support..
