OMG....NOEEESS. How can something that cheap destroy my brand new GeForce MX4000 that I paid $127 for :brokenheart:? I wonder how far I can overclock this thing if I strap an SLK-900 on it with a 92mm Tornado...

HDTV output is just a marketing bullet-point without the necessary cable or adapter which is not included and may not even be available. Any link-a-roos to more info?

Ita 47 dollar card, seems like it a decent card for the price. Some more real world tests would have been nice though.

This is NOT a gaming card.
Who spends $50 for a gaming card? If you do, buy a second hand GF4 or something.

Looks to be more of a "This card works" option, and it also offers good HTPC potential. Not really a gaming card, more business users/office home users I think.

One issue:
Cons:
? Not many 3D settings to configure in the driver
? 64-bit memory
Basic Specifications:
? Chipset: XGI Volari V3
? Memory: 128 MB
? Memory Type : DDR 8Mx32
? Memory Bus: 128 bit
? Pixel fillrate: 400 million pixels/sec (peak)
? 6.4 GBytes/sec memory bandwidth
? AGP 8X / 4X
? DVI Port, TV/S-Video, VGA

Which is it?

Not very impressive IMO. It may wipe the floor with the MX4000, but even several year old GeForce 3 Ti cards, which can also be found easily for <$50 will probably destroy this card.

Plus there's always the questions of drivers and support.

nVidia makes the bulk of their video card profits from their low end chips, ie the MX cards. If XGI wasn't practically a joke this would actually be a big deal. Now if XGI had respectable flag ship parts that could give them a good name then they could rake in money with their low end but this means little as people usually relate "nVidia" and "ATI" as being the company for their video card needs just as people look to "Coke" and "Pepsi" quench their cola thirst.

What other card gives you the high tech ribbon cable between outputs?!?!!

XGI! XGI! XGI!

I'm leery of XGI drivers, and like how the reviewer said it will run Doom 3, but posted no benches.

Actually, I thought that was the smartest/best part of that card. It has DVI/VGA and tv-out, which is nonexistant in that price range, aside from the (horribly slow) Radeon 7000 cards. It is also pretty smart because it should keep costs down due to the small PCB while still being fully featured.

Ackshilly, there are Radeon 9200 Special Ed's which have three outputs and are half height (or low profile except for the bracket) in the same price range. However they are 64-bit while the similarly configured 128-bit 9250's cost muy more so it will be interesting to find out the actual memory bus width of this V3.

The reason there are no Doom3 results is because the reviewer is still waiting for the timedemo 1 to finish, he thinks it should be finished by next week with an impressive score of 0.1fps per minute! ;)

The Volari V3 stays at the bottom of all benchmarks, for those of you who wanna know how it perform.
Did you check the driver versions.

Low-profile love threads like this make me glad I own the seemingly only 128-bit DDR LP card.

 my FireGL T2. :D

Indeeed. But the real question is how does it perform on a price basis -i.e. against the mighty Radeon 9200 Shortbus Edition. In my mind it would have to be perform better for the same price otherwise there is no incentive to stray from a solid product with leading driver support etc. The only possible exception to that would be for features, namely HDTV component output which is only available on much costlier 8500, 9500 and up (at additional cost of adapter, no less) but as said seems AWOL on this particular V3 at least.
