XGI Volari V3XT 128MB

I'm looking at the XGI Volari V3XT LIKE THIS for video-out in a budget htpc box that has the ati hdtv wonder video card

i don't have a hdtv (yet), so i'm under-educated to the pitfalls of video cards and modern (HD) TV's.

anyone have an opinion on this card, and whether it's a good match with my ati hdtv card?

thanks for any help

I used the Chaintech Volari V3 128MB quite a while back, when the cards were new to the market. Mine had graphical glitches using the VGA port, but using the DVI port solved the problem. I never tried using it's video out/HD out capabilities, but the card ran just fine afterwards.

I'm not sure how much my experience will help you, since the V3 is a completely different core than the V3XT.

anyone have alternative suggestions for a video card to pair with an ATI HDTV Wonder?

The machine will primarily be used for audio/video recording and playback -- not gaming.
Likely OS: xp-pro; maybe win2k server; least likely suse 9.x

HDTV out != TV-out.

V3XT is the lowest specification chip out there that has HDTV straight from the box. So why not give it a try?
