XGI Volari Review

Anyone read this yet? I'm surprised no one's talking about this yet... Or am I the only nerd up reading a 32 page review of this video card on Xbit Labs at 3:30 AM? 😛
Edit: oh, and before I forget: Boycott XGI!!!
Edit: ROFLES! "Please welcome, anti-Anti-Aliasing from XGI!" That's so going in my sig 🙂

Wow I went into the review thinking that they did ok compared to ATI and NVIDIA and when I saw the bench #s...... 🙁 I think they should just quit 😉

Taken from the conclusions:

"What can?t XGI offer us today?

High or at least mainstream performance even of the most expensive top model;
High image quality in games because of ?optimizations?;
High shader processing speed;
Real anisotropic filtering;
FSAA;
Efficient memory bandwidth saving technologies;
?Fair game?: no cheats in games and benchmarks;
Low power consumption."

"Highs:

Beautiful looks;
VIVO support;
Rich software bundle.

Lows:

Low performance;
Low 3D image quality;
Problems with the drivers;
Optimizations for selected applications;
Loud noise;
High heat dissipation;
Big weight;
Bulky PCB design;
Two connectors on the system PSU;
High price."

and lastly:

"If XGI doesn?t improve the situation with the image quality and performance of their Volari in the near future, we will have every reason to state that their debut in the consumer 3D graphics market turned out a failure."

:beer:😀 looks like a market leader to me. Hah.

That article took forever to read...
I dunno if I should go to bed or pull an all-nighter and go have breakfast with my roomate (which I haven't done in forever)... Tough choices...

Peforms about same level as a FX5600, in majority of tests, but with driver "optimisations", which reduce the image quality akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.
Turn the optimisations off, and you get a frame rate akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.

There you go, saved you a bit of reading 😉

Funny analysis though 🙂
