I am currently in the market for a new computer case. My current computer case has to be kept open for the cpu to keep cool and now the HDD led has burned out. As opposed to getting a watercooling system or drilling out a hole for the fans to go in the sides or back, I was considering purchasing a nicer looking case. Right now I have my sights set on the XG Dragon case. If it isn't over $100 I would seriously consider purchasing one. I love the design and the cooling seems appropriate. All I would have to do is probably add a cold cathode and I would be set for a long time. My current case is lacking in space as well, however the Dragon seems to have plenty.

Dragon Case on MGE (XG) 's website.

If there are any owners of other XG cases, I would like your opinion as to the case performance and value. Thanks.

$100 for that peice of crap? I don't think so......

If you want a nice looking case check out Lian-Li, Coolermaster and Silverstone.

Well I don't want my PC to look like a G5 Mac so Lian-Li is out of the question. I don't even like their other cases that are available. Coolermaster, meh, and Silverstone, that's a lot of money for a case. $250 for a computer case. wth? Thanks for the suggestions. I take it no one has purchased a Viper or other model XG case for their PC. I just wanted to know their reputation.

I just recently reviewed the Quantum From XG (MGE). It's an excellent case - but at 37 lb shipping weight, it's heeeeeavy!

My brother recently got that same case as you. I really liked the build quality of it. Very impressive to me, and that says A LOT.

My MGE 450w PSU that came with my case died in a week of getting it so I am guessing that they arent that great.

Well the PSU I won't change from my OCZ (mirror finish :) ) but I need to know if it keeps the system temps down. PSU's and biased opinions aside.

Looking at the photograph of the back of the case, I see one 80mm fan mount and standard mobo orientation. Pretty standard.

I doubt it will do any worse than the majority of run-of-the-mill cases out there when it comes to cooling, but I doubt it will do any better either.

If that DMD at the end of your sig is what I think it means, $200 for a case is a drop in the bucket. :D

Well, it looks good. Doesn't look like a mac and it has very attractive looks. I think the worst review for the Viper case (the predecessor) only mentioned that they painted over the screws and rear covers for pci slots. XGBOX did not paint underneath, does that really matter? Nope. It gives a temp reading (not that it is all that necessary after a while) and has good cooling (sidefan and front fan, which I think is optional) so it will help out with that much. I'm not overclocking and I'm not trying to mod my own case. I just want an attractive, stylish, maybe even eccentric (not really, because it's in the budget category for computer cases). Listen, I spent $119 on my Antec tower case, when it came out, which was copied by Cheiftec and sold for less money much later. I am looking for a final original look (at least until they decide to change motherboards to something other than ATX). It will be my end all be all. I have never gone all out on my computer case and think it's time to do so.

So if you think it's ugly or think it's a bad case and don't have info to back it up, then just stop right there. I don't want to hear what everyone else is buying because they think it's good. I just want to make sure that the handle isn't going to snap off (maybe someone with a Viper case has had that happen) or a harddrive falls out of it's bay while in transport or just sitting still. Something that gives me a clue as to what people have gone through with these cases.

gg...deleted my post for a curse word.

Well, to summarize it I said: Unless you honestly don't care how crappy it is as long as it doesnt break in half, go for what looks good to you. Otherwise go with one of those mentioned companies such as Lian-Li, Coolermaster, Silverstone, Antec, etc.

I need a reason though. Just because it's "crappy" doesn't cut it. Did it fail on you or a friends computer? Did the case fall apart on them? I need more to it before I sign off on a low down dirty POS computer case. It seems to show lots of quality for the price and the reviews really are not that bad. Like I said, the worst complaint was not removing the screws before painting the INSIDE of the case but that doesn't matter really. I can say any case is crappy, but because I have nothing to back it up with, there goes my credibility. Please, more info, less hatred.

i bought the mge sidewinder(tossed the psu of course) and it works great. Nice case, runs cooler then any case i've used, and is pretty damn quiet. besides a fully tool-less design its a damn nice case. For $52 i dont have single complaint.

There is a constructive reason as to why/why not buy the MGE case. Thank you. I would most likely ditch the PSU as well since I have a nice OCZ one right now that I would rather use. How is the space inside, how many drives have you put into it? Is it cramped?

lol people will always have their opinions. Everyone also has different taste. What one likes doesn't mean another will. The mge cases are pretty much the same case inside. Plenty of room. I got a 6800gt and 3 hd's in it no prob. The fourth hd is a bit hard because of my ultra x-connect's big hard cables. But with any other ps i imagine that shouldnt be a prob. They state only 4 hd's but i see a slot for a fifth so im assuming i could get another in there also. Not cramped at all. Not huge like a cm stacker either. But plenty... You wont be dissapointed. And the sides slip off via thumbscrews...perty nice for the $$$

Stole the words right out of my mouth. Those cases in the link the OP put up are ugly as hell.

For the one who said "$100 for that?" I am going to reply with my first view of the price of a Lian Li case "$185-$200 for that?!?!?!?!" That much money on a computer case...are you crazy?

Anyway, I am beginning to think the case is worth it. Several Newegg.com buyers love it and there hasn't been that one person that goes through a terrible experience with their product ( you know what I am talking about) and shows severe hatred towards MGE. I will post pictures of the Case when I get it in April and list my "complaints" if I ever have any. Thank you all for your suggestions and opinions.

"So if you think it's ugly"

I do think its ugly, But im not the one that has to look at it everyday.

I will take my $300 Lian Li any day of the week. But then again I have the cash and have to stare at it so I should like it

I *DON'T* think looks are #1 on this guys list for case requirments. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. He started he didn't want to spend 150-250 on a case. He doesn't want Coolermaster, Silverstone or Lian Li. I'm going to bet nobody here has used, or even seen one of these XS Dragon cases in real life. They look too flashy for me.

it has 5 5.25 & 5 3.25 bay slots (good)
even tho they are 80mm, it has 3 fan mounts.
1mm Aluminum will make it lighter, kinda flimsy. I believe my Kingwin 424 is 1mm, I love it thought (great case)
I personally like the handle at the top, easy to lug it around. And it looks like the Power/Reset switch are at the top by the top I/O ports, never seen that on a case before.

Doesn't look like XG has a price on this yet, but I'm going to bet it won't be under 100 bucks. I'll guess it will be me around the TT Tsunami price (130'ish)
