Can somone explain to me that has done their rebate for this offer where the, "original serial number label cut from the box," is? There is a upc but no serial number label that I can find on the box. If it was asking for the UPC it would say that so I would love this explained to me. thanks

If there is a serial # it's usually located in the white box along with the UPC, to be safe just cut out the entire white box w/ the UPC, if you don't see a serial accompanied with it, it's safe to say they wrote the rebate wrong... I've been submitting rebates for a LONG time now and haven't come across a rebate that doesn't want the UPC. I've never heard of a rebate asking for a serial #... those are particularly needed for the customer to get tech. support and RMA if needed so I wouldn't honestly want to send the serial in.

True... just beware of retail boxes that don't have UPC. I was denied a PNY rebate because of that - the retail box has a trapezoidal "proof of purchase" that didn't have the bar code (none at all on retail box) and the rebate had a sample picture of the trapezoidal proof of purchase, but rebate was denied because "no UPC."

Well there is no serial label and no white box. It is retail boxed with UPC. There is no model number on the box or the control to match it up with the required model number for the rebate either. Ack this is an impossible rebate to be sure you do things correctly. I have to try to contact the rebate phone number or buy.com to figure this out. PITA.

I have received mine yesterday but I'm on travel so I'm unable to see what the package looks like.
More or less an FYI...When I checked the XFX site for drivers, it asks for the serial number of the product which is very weird. If you do not the provide the s/n then it's tough luck! You can't proceed.
So i wondered this whole rebate deal only needs the serial number?
Please keep us posted.

Well there is a serial number "sticker" on the physical remote itself but it is supposed to be a non removable sticker the kind you get with equipment that is supposed to stay on the product for your reference. It isnt something you remove to send in for a rebate.

Push comes to shove. For some reason or another if the rebate is a hoax, is the controller still worth $22 bucks?

Nah, for $22 since I almost never use my old controller it would have been a deal breaker for me. In other words I would not have purchased it for $22. I have already contacted buy.com and asked them to look into it. I also asked for a $20 credit if the rebate is crap or free ship return to them for full refund. Newegg doesnt mess around at least with me when it comes to this stuff. They always credit me for one thing or another if there is a problem.

There's a "proof of purchase" on the tab when you open the box, I sent that along with the UPC label. I also sent a copy of the packaging slip that includes the model number since nothing on the receipt shows the model number of the xfx gamepad. Just some extra precautions.

summary -

-send proof of purchase tab on top of box
-send upc label
-send a copy of the packaging slip with model number associated with sku on your receipt
-circle all relevant data
