XFX vs other PSU brands

I'm in the process of replacing my PSU, a Corsair TX750 (5 years warranty) which is starting it's 6th years soon. It's still running well, no sounds, buzz, anything...

This unit could probably run for another couple of years but i'd rather change it right now and get a 80+ gold unit since many are on sale nowadays.

I'd go with Corsair again but heard great things about XFX too. I saw a XFX Pro 750w Black Edition, 80+ gold, 70A, single rail, for 115CAD.

The equivalent for Corsair goes for 139CAD on sale (HX750) or 145CAD (AX750).

XFX for PSUs a good choice? Are they made by Seasonic too?

Thanks a lot guys!

XFX 750W gold should be a very good unit, it's based on Seasonic's X-series platform as far as I know. The downside compared to Corsair HX (and the newest revision of Seasonic X650) is the warranty which is two years shorter.

Ok thanks! But seeing reviews on Newegg...ok only 10 reviews but half of them are low ratings. Sure most of the bad reviews are 1 egg but seem to concern failing units in the first year.

Still looks like a good unit and it's modular which is great.

While the neg reviews do seem to be rather catastrophic, the sample size is extremely small and self selection bias does play a big role. We don't know how many of the other hundreds or thousands of units are just quietly chugging along.

Yeah that's why I take those reviews with a grain of salt only 4 or 5 are 1 egg and talk about units going bad after a few months and i'm sure thousands of units were sold.

I'll continue my shopping but for now this PSU is everything I need/like.

Just thought I'd take a look at what else is available...

Corsair AX750 $135 @ canadacomputers - same but with 7 yr warranty and better customer support, and, in my opinion, better looks.
Rosewill Capstone 650-M $95 @ newegg.ca - decent quality, semi-modular, enough watts (54A/648W on +12V) for almost any dual GPU setup (3570K + 7950 CF with moderate OC included)

This is false, it's 62A or 744W. 70A would be for a 850W unit.

The New XFX Black Edition 750 & 850W Pro's are KM3 Clones of the Seasonic Models which Corsair also Clone and cost $20 to $30 less. I bought a XFX Black Edition 850W Pro from NCIX for $120 and very pleased with it. The Quality of the Case and Modular Cables are excellent and it's virtually silent with a 5 Year Warranty. I can't see spending considerably more for a Seasonic or Corsair when XFX makes the same unit for a cheaper price. The latest XFX KM3's are highly recommended by Hardware Secretes, Johnny Guru and me ;o)

XFX units are usually cheaper than the Seasonic counterparts, so why buy Seasonic if they are identical internally?

Because you like one brand better...its like cars. Do you like tahoes, yukons, or escalades better...essentially they are the same vehicle.
