I rmaed a 6800GT to them and now they say its outta production. They offered me a 7800GS for $30. Seems like a good enough deal will def help the resale. or do you think i should ask for a 7800GT?

Considering they don't make an AGP 7800GT, that might be kind of hard. Considering the 7800GS has higher clock speeds than your old card, supports more features, and will perform considerably better clock for clock, they're doing all you ought to expect of them in terms of replacing your card with something of equal or better value. However they ought to be replacing it for free, or offering you a full refund of the purchase price as an option along with the option for the 7800GS. Lifetime warranty (or however long it was on your card) doesn't mean they can just say "oh sorry, we don't have any more of those, you'll have to pay more".

Well I emailed and asked if they would be able to give me a 7800Gt or 7900Gt for $30 since they are both about the same price as the 7800gs. I figure resale will be better.

They are offering the GS because it's the only AGP version they have that is as fast/faster than a 6800GT.

If you let them know you will accept a PCI-e card as a replacement, my guess is you'll probably receive a 7600GT vice a 7800/7900GT since that would be the next step up.

I'm not sure how the 7600GT PCI-e compares to a 7800GS AGP. I'd ask for whichever one is faster.

Please update this thread with their answer as I'm very curious how they respond. I hope it works out in your favor. I've only dealt with XFX support once, but they were very good. Hopefully you'll have a similar result.

Ok should all be figured now and just glad its over with, sent them my rma like a month ago and they have been givin me the run around. I told them i no longer had a agp motherboard so i have no use for the 7800GS and that id like the 7800Gt or 7900Gt for 30 like they offered the 7800GS. Took them 2 hours to call me back but they offered me the 7900GT for 50 bucks. No too bad i suppose.... I will likely sell it to a friend anyway since i have a x1900xt, just want a pcix since its the future and easier to sell. but who knows i may save it for a 2nd rig i have planned. Final result 6800GT goes in 7900Gt for $50 comes out...

7900GT for $50 is a very nice deal. IMO that is much better than they could have done, such as just giving you a 7600GT or even GS. For $50, upgrading to a 7900 GT is well worth it.

It's not a good deal at all, since it cost him 50 dollars PLUS the cost of his old video card. Warranty replacement should not cost you anything to get a minimum equivalent, it's not the customer's fault that they don't stock any of the same board anymore. He should have gotten a free replacement using whichever card is positioned at the same price/market point as his old card was, THEN been offered an upgrade for a charge if he wanted it.

i think i paid 275 for the 6800GT so basically 7900GT for 325. Way I look at it though is MAYBE id get 100 for a 6800GT if i sold it now so that would put me down 175. But if i sell a the 7900GT get 200 for it im only down 125... so im not overly concerned if it was a card i needed then maybe... Just want to add to all this that XFX has done nothing but jerk me around through it all, 3x they told me my card was bad and were sending me a new one over a 3 week period. Then yesterday the gentleman told me I would get a email form right away to fax them for the 7900GT well here we are a day later and no email.. Just pisses me off.

My point was that they could have given him a 7600GS or GT for free, but instead he gets a 7900GT for $50. That is a very good deal IMO considering the price difference between the cards (7600 and 7900) is >$100.
