Way too out of the loop on vid cards to decipher which new cards are bins, rebadges of older chips, etc. How does this deal rank on the bang for the buck category?

Well, RX 580 is Polaris, unknown whether these are still 14nm GPU chips, or if they've transitioned the RX 570 and RX 580 to 12nm, as was introduced with the RX 590. The 570 and 580, were slightly process-tweaked (allegedly) and factory-overclocked (allegedly), versions of the RX 470 and RX 480.

So, they're sort-of a re-badge, but they've been clocked higher, and given 8-pin (in most cases) power connectors (some, like the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 have an 8-pin AND a 6-pin, for OC'ing, and extra cooling).

They're not as power-efficient an architecture as NVidia's GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 (vanilla / Super / Ti), but they can hold their own as far as performance benchmarks. They are primarily a 1080P card, not a 1440P card. (For Gaming purposes. They will do 4K UHD Desktop usage.)

Edit: For the same money, an 8GB RX 580 card ($150) is way better than a GTX 1650 (vanilla / D6 / Super), in basically everything but power-consumption. If you have an OEM PC without a 6+2-pin power connector, then you had best stick to the GTX 1650 family.

Edit: Plus, this deal is NO REBATE, that's got to be worth something too.

Thanks for the info!
I was going to retrofit an existing build. But, the wifey is used to the current desktop and wants to take it over. So, I've started to target bang for the buck processors and motherboards for a new build. Current build is 3750K with 16GB DDR3 with an SSD I bought when MX500's were all the rage. Pretty sure I bought the base package as a 2500K used off FS/FT and upgraded the processor awhile ago. Current vid card is the venerable Radeon 9500 Pro! Start's to feel long in the tooth when I can't run older free to play MMORPG's at a high detail level, LOL! Seems like a good time frame to build a new one.

I think you've nailed this pretty well about being a rebadge as the specs and model number almost line up with this existing card in the xfx lineup:

Sad this one sold out, as I'm kind of tempted to get a 580 as a bridge gpu since there are some games like Sekiro, Dark Souls III, and Jedi Fallen Order that I'd much rather play on PC at 60 fps than get on PS4 to play at 30 fps.

OC This card and it will get you mostly what the 580 does. Dont need 8gb of ram anyway. Newegg store and $115.

That's not too bad. Although it still hurts me to think that I was buying used RX 580 8GB Red Devil cards for $120 shipped on eBay just a few months ago.

I was so desperate for a deal I bought a lot of 10 XFX RX 470 4GB cards with bad fans and fixed them up, just to get a few cheap GPUs for me and my friends. It's a strange world we live in.

If you want a RX 580 with 8gigs of memory, you can look at that one auction, buy it now site, for they can be had for $140 shipped or under, if you dont mind open box, refurb, or even used.
