how'd they get 4GB in these over 3 from previous gen 1792 shaders? Do they have the pins for it, and just upgrade? or did they increase GDDR5 capacities/use larger chips? or ...?

I just bought a 7950 and was wondering...

Is it faster than the MSI Gtx 960 that's on sale right now for $160 after rebate? The 380.

The R9 380 is based on Tonga and the HD 7950 is based on Tahiti, so different dies.

...With that mentioned, these 4GB parts must using higher density/higher capacity GDDR5 compared to the previous Tonga (R9 285) with 2GB.

Only reason to get the 960 is for a low power/quiet HTPC and if you wanted the free game (roughly a $35 value).
