^I haven't used a video card without two power connection in a long time. No biggie for me.

P.S. You could always sell the Dirt 3 & Dirt Showdown codes to bring down the overall cost.

7850 is abt 20% better i believe, my friend just got a 6870 and I got a 7850 and I get about 8-12 more fps than he does in most games

it's not garbage - by the benchmarks linked here - the 6970 and 6950 are closer to the 7850 than the 7850 is to the 7950/70, and they are significantly cheaper as well

let me clarify my statement - if you don't mind overclocking your video cards, then the 7850's are a decent buy

if you aren't looking to OC your video card, spend a few bucks more and get a 670 from Nvidia

I think most would consider $160 to be more than "a few bucks". In fact, it's 66% more money.

I don't want to derail here, but really all you really needed to say was "I prefer nV" rather than try to justify yourself (which you can't at this point BTW). Even at stock clocks this is a truckload of performance for $239 and considering the typical gains seen from OCing it really is fantastic.

I know I should be excited but I'm not, this really should be around $200. When will NVIDIA be in this range with a next Gen part?

Many of 7850 are OOS at many places, so there's one more reason to not expect their prices to go down anytime soon.

I'm not an Nvidia fanboy at all -In fact I have an AMD card in my rig right now. If money is the issue, get a 6970 or a 6950 - significantly cheaper, only slightly behind these in performance - which was my entire point about the 7800 line.

These are decent cards, they just aren't much better than the previous series.

^People are still selling used Radeon 6950/6970 for $220-240. Where do you see them "significantly" cheaper. I'm curious.

if you are getting a 670, you might as well spend a few more bucks and get a gtx690...lulz

How does this card compare to the HD6870, which was $240 MSRP when it came out?

The 6870 is only a few fps slower but can be had for around $150. The bang/buck factor still goes to the 6870. I think it's about the best value card on the market right now.
