Although the MX440SE (250mhz core & 332mhz memory) is slower than a regular MX440 (270mhz core & 400mhz memory) you will get a very nice performance boost from your Matrox G400. I havn't heard there's any problems running a mx440 on your motherboard.
Here's some benchmark scores for you compared to a regular MX440 and Radeon 9000 used with an AMD Athlon XP 1700:-
(results are=mx440se, mx440 & radeon)
Quake 3:-
800x600x32bit=162,174,174
1024x768x32bit=122,141,140
1280x1024x32bit=102,120,117
Quake 3 2xfsaa:-
800x600x32bit=111,129,103
Quake 3 4xfsaa:-
800x600x32bit=56,66,58
Return to castle wolfenstein:-

1024x768x32bit=89,116,115
1280x1024x32bit=73,100,97
Serious Sam 2:-
800x600x32bit=84,120,122
1024x768x32bit=57,84,91
1280x1024x32bit=39,69,77
UT2003 flyby (Antalus):-
800x600x32bit=75,86,77
1024x768x32bit=51,59,51
1280x1024x32bit=34,40,33
Please remember that you will get much better results than above because I used max settings with each game so my scores are the lower than you will probably see.
