XFX Geforce 6800GT

Is anyone here able to explain why my recently purchased 6800GT's memory is only clocked at 900Mhz rather than the reference 1000Mhz? Ive done some searches but there are a lot of mixed answers that arent very specific. Ive posted a query with XFX but Im never hopeful of a response from E-notes.

Thanks

have you confirmed that it is running 900mhz in 3D applications? 900mhz could be 2D speed. What about temperatures, is the card throttling down due to overheat?

strange, only nV cards I can see with 900MHz RAM are the 6600GT's (some, not all) and maybe them weirdo 6800GTo cards that are 50% 6800NU, 50% 6800GT....

Yea, runs 900Mhz in all modes checked it using Rivatuner.

Its an XFX 6800GT 256MB (PV-T40A-UD). Its based of the reference design and specs are straight off of Nvidia.

yes i remember this.....few angry faces here and there. nothing big though

the first few lots of XFX 6800GT's sold with 900Mhz memory

when all the others where at least 350/1000 most of the people i spoke to simply clocked it up. it was XFX's decision. and probably is a little part of why they get a bad feedback

they now ship and have been for a while cards that run the proper 1000mhz

my xfx 6800gt agp is clocked at 900mhz as well, after having the card for a few months i decided to overclock it and noticed the 900mhz at first i thought it was for 2D but when overclocking i noticed i had to start from 900mhz, 3dmark reads 350 900 too so i guess its true, it can easily reach ultra speeds though

after all ive heard about xfx im never buying a card from them again, damn bastards

there you go

must be the earlier AGP versions (ie on release) they sold with slower memory ( and i think they possibly did it false advertising?)

they've moved up abit now, but i remember reading stories of under spec'd cards and horrible RMA attempts

Same way I feel about Asus, my X800XL is underclocked by 10mhz compared to other X800XL 🙁.
