Hey all
Just got an xfx 9800gt and I'm really loving the performance boost. My only problem is heat. I'd rather keep the stock cooler because it is really nice and I love xfx's card design. But it runs idle at 70-73C and load at 76-78C, my old EVGA 7800gt only ran 55C idle and 76C load and about 10 degrees lower when I installed a zalman vf900.
My games aren't crashing or slowing down at all but everything just runs hot and I'm worried about developing problems down the road seeming I'd like to go sli. I have an 80mm exhaust fan in the back, a 120 exhaust on my radiator, 80mm intake on the front top of the case, and my PSU has two low rpm 80mm's. Anyone have an idea of a fan or fan configuration that might work better than what I have now? I was thinking about moving the 80mm intake to my side window and have it blowing directly on the card, would this make any difference? I have everything in an old full ATX tower which has alot of room inside.
Final question is should I really worry about this? As stated there is no performance dip during gaming and no crashes since I installed the card. The system is just running hotter than I'm used to.
Thanks in advance
