XFX 9800GT $109 AR shipped at the Egg w/ Free CoD 4

double lifetime warranty

Some models support HybridPower (I would be more tempted for this if Nvidia ever released its MCP7A chipset)

This is the noisy fan version, beware.

Fan looks weak, but it looks like a 4 pin connector so I assume fan speed can be controlled via software at the very least.

Is this a worthy upgrade for a 9600 GT?

I (try to) game @ 1920x1200. 8GB Ram, C2D e8400. Some games struggle. Is this worth the upgrade cost, or should I wait for something bigger and better?

Unless they explicitly state it for the exact part number you are buying, don't expect it.

Is this 55nm chip, out of curiosity?

Possibly, but not guaranteed. I think these are just trickling into manufacturing, so I'd wager on the cards in the channel to be 65nm.

is this card better than an 8800GT OC'd?

not worth upgrading unless you want to go 3-way sli

This card doesn't have two SLI connectors. It can't do 3-way sli. This is a relabled 8800GT. Same performance, same card. There are 55nm 9800gt's with two sli connectors floating around, but this isnt one of them.

I don't think there are any, unless some AIB partner is using surplus 9800 GTX PCBs.

9800 GT cards can be 65nm or 55nm, and can have Hybrid Power or not. 3 way SLI is not part of the deal.

This is the best deal that I've seen for a single slot 9800 GT (all my expansion slots are full so a lot of the video cards are rules out).

Very tempted to upgrade a 7600GT mainly for better HD video support and some casual gaming. However Nvidia is non-specific on whether this is Purevideo 2 or 3 and I suspect that this may be deliberate and we find that some of the specs change or vary depending on whether you get the 55nm version or not. Anyone know?

I was actually waiting for a 9800GT at this price point and then had some concerns on the HD front (i.e. it could be a poorer choice than a 9600GT that does have Purevideo 3)

Very tempting......... I may need to hold back until more information comes to light.

Just remembered... the other thing was that the "real" 9800 GT will have an SPDIF input and the card should come with a cable to plug into your motherboard header.

Asus makes one:

I think there are a few other ones floating around.
