I purchased an XFX 9600GT video card around 3 weeks ago, and it had been working fine.
Today, my PC still boots, but my monitor reports there is no signal. No display during POST, no windows splash screen, but I hear the window startup audio etc. So it seems it recognizes the card enough to boot (I'm not 100% sure, but it wouldn't boot if it didn't detect a VGA adapter?).
I've tried two monitors, tried it in the other PCI-E slot, inspected the pins, always have had the 6-pin power connector connected, tried the DVI-VGA adapter, power cycling the display/input select. All zero, nada, zip at the display.
My old 6800 GS card works still, so I'm pretty sure there's a problem with the card. But I just don't know if there's any other diagostic I can try before I request a replacement. I'm kinda lost without display.
I've seen the other threads with the screen going black during game play, but this wasn't a problem I had. Just now it's totally blank, instead of intermittent problems fixable by a reboot.
