Hi All!
I am buying a new machine and I am confused over the choice of video cards. Due to various constraints, I have finally decided an an 9600 GT. And XFX seems to be freely available here in India.
I was planning on a XFX 9600GT XXX (PV-T96G-YDD4) but then my guy told me that the distributor claims that the XXX version is out of stock/no longer available(?)
I then decided to for the plain 9600GT.
Searching online I thought the XFX 9600GT standard is (PV-T96G-YDF4) but then he told me that model he is ordering for me is the (PV-T96G-YHF4) and apparently it actually costs mor ethan the XXX version. How is this so? I checked out the website and the only difference I can see is fansink in the picture. Also it does seem to be more expensive with online retailers too.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks

some pictures would be nice... Also, have you looked at the clock speeds? Just find the cheapest 9600GT you can and then overclock it.
The next generation Radeons are coming out soon, but I don't think they will appear in India (at least not at 9600GT prices) for a while.

Ouch, is there any other brand that you could get?

The XXX version looks to have a lot better cooler than the vanilla version too.

the 8800GT is better (512MB version, make sure you don't accidentally order a 256MB one). They are both G92 chips, but the 8800GT has more shaders. The 9600GT only comes close to it because people prefer to buy it due to the name starting with 9.

XFX is an awesome company, best on IMAO.

Actually both the pictures are of the vanilla version.
The YHF4 is the new one with the smaller heatsink and is more expensive than the XXX version.
The YDF4 is the older vanilla 9600GT
Specs seem identical.

I wish I could go for the 8800GT, but am budget limited.

The shitty situation in India is that after customs duties and taxes the 9600GT would cost me an equivalent of $240

Ouch!!
