XFX 7900GT Overclock issues

I recently purchased from newegg a "XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 GeForce 7900 GT EXTREME (520MHz) 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail"
The card is factory OC to 520. using coolbits, I tired to increase it to like 580, no go, not eve 521 will work! it does that stability test then says it failed. this is with the memory left the same and just increaing the core by 1mhz. is there any way I can bypass that test or is there a better way to OC this card?

Download and install RivaTuner.

In the power user tab, under "Overclocking->Global" you should be able to disable the test. (set the value to 1 as well as check it) then hit apply.

Now USE rivatuner to overclock also. Back at the first tab under driver settings click the customize arrow then the first one (picture of a card).
You should now be able to handel all your OCing stuff from there and even have it turn on after ever reboot.

Yea, coolbits is funny sometimes. I'm sure if you tried to underclock your card to say 515 it would fail that test and put you back at the stock 520.
