XFX 7900GT - it's freakin loud. So it's either the AC NV Silencer 5 Rev 3 or AC NV Silencer 6 Rev 2. Or something better? Also I don't see any official supporting documentation on the installation on 7900GT's....

Yah the VF-900 is good, you can use it on almost everycard, maybe even G80 and R600 when those are released(but im not sure). I dont think the Accelero X1 is compatible with the 7900gt which would have been my first choice because it cools better and quieter than the zalman, but only works on select Nvidia cards.

Arctic-Cooling plans to release a passive cooler for the 7900GT in 2-3 months according to a rep. No active is planned for 7900GT which is dissappointing to me....

AkumaX, I used a Zalman VF700-CU on my XFX 7900GT Extreme Edition card. It works great, temps are lower than with the stock cooler (even when overclocked) and it's certainly much quieter now.

PSA for those looking at the Zalman's: If you will notice, there is no exhaust for the heat from the GPU. I had a VF700 in my case on a 7800GT and while the idle was low, load temps were very high. I have 2x120MM (front & back) and the air just wasn't getting out. I'd ensure you have good ventilation with one of those

A Sennheiser headset might be the best solution to your loudness issues. Or you could just trade your card to me for my 7800GTX. :)

My loaded temp. is not much higher with the Zalman VF700-CU than the idle temp. was with the stock cooler.

I have an Antec SLK3700BQE with one 120mm Scythe exhaust fan. The system is plenty cool and quiet as is.

So, is there nothing else you would recommend? Ideally I would like one that dumps heat outside the case, can anyone help me here? Like I said, im not averse to a bit of modding.

I heard of people using NV 5 rev 3 but you need a case mod or hack off about an inch of the exhaust. Also, the mem chips do not line up. However, even with these limitations, users are reporting pretty good results....
