XFX 7900GS will not go into my motherboard

I recently purchased a 7900gs and while trying to put it into my motherboard, i find that it will not go all the way into the PCI-E slot because the casing of the heat sink sticks too far forward and hits this battery like protrusion from the motherboard.

Here is a picture of what the card looks like

As you can see from this picture, the heat sink goes past the front hook like connector. The battery like protrusion is directly next to the hook connector so when i try to push down the heat sink casing with get caught on the battery. What should i do if i want to use this card? By the way my mother board is the ECS 915G-M, Intel 915G Chipset

About all you can do is to take off the heatsink and remove the material which interferes. That or return the Video Card or Motherboard for another brand. What other options could possibly exist? Good luck.

That battery thing is known as a capacitor, and the ECS board )or the XFX card) does not properly conform to the standards if its hitting that cap. I do believe this usta occur back in the day on the GF4 4200 cards from time to time on Epox boards. Your best bet is to call Newegg and explain it to them, then look for a card with a smaller heatsink such as an eVGA card.

guessing you mean the capacitors are in the way? Anyway if you have dremal you can cut off some of the heatsink fins in that area. Which is probably unlikely you got one. Otherwise you will just have to put a after market cooler on there or like balane said get a different motherboard/video card. Would be cheaper easier to buy a after market cooler. But if it was me I'd take a couple fins off 😀.
