I think I should get the XFX 7800GTX Extreme Gamers Edition:

- Core clock 490MHz+ rather than 450MHz+
- 1300MHz+ GDDR3 Ultra Fast Memory rather than 1250MHz+

It's only an extra £40.

Do you think I should get the Extreme Gamers Edition???

that depends how important a warranty is to you. You could always save the 40 and O/C yourself. Also, I have heard bad things about XFX's lower cards, not sure about the 7800 though.

eVGA or BFG. Whichever is cheaper of the two.
Both have lifetime warranties and BFG is also overclocked out of the box.

Would you choose the BFG GeForce 7800 GTX with Core clock 460MHz rather than the XFX GeForce 7800GTX Extreme Edition with Core clock 490MHz+??????

Heck yes. Better support, better warranty.

P.S. You get a free t-shirt and teflon sticky pads too! :p

HAHAH, your joking, right? I would rather have a BFG 6200 than a XFX 7800 extreme crap.

eVGA is also overclocked out of the box. Well, the KO edition is anyway.

How many of you XFX haters have actually owned one?
My 6800 GT has been great.

Only time I've ever dealt with XFX support was nothing short of phenomenal.
Sent an RMArequest via Email and got my number about 2 hours later.
They received the card on a Monday and shipped a new one out on Thursday. A 4-day turnaround is almost unheard of nowadays.

I have. I prefer eVGA's lifetime warranty and better support..

How many XFX's did you have to RMA?

One, but it was determined that a powersurge took it out. It took my MB also and one HDD. They replaced it without issue.

Now I would rather have EVGA's warranty also, but people like to bash XFX without having even ever owned one.
Also, from what I understand, XFX did have serious problems several years ago, but my research has shown that they now have no more problems than anyone else.

And in the case of BFG, much, much fewer problems with the 6800 line. BFG 6800 GT's were so damn problematic, that some vendors, including Monarch, stopped selling them because they were gettng killed on the RMA's.

XFX now offers a double lifetime warranty. :p

I personally opted for the EVGA 7800GTX and took advantage of the free SLI mainboard promo. EVGA support and RMA is first class. They also have a support forum and EVGA staff is always there looking out for people. I've seen numerous threads where an individual was having an issue and Joe Darwin (Director of Technical Marketing) posts his contact info and quickly resolves the issue. Needless to say I am very impressed with EVGA. :)

I have a BFG 7800 GTX OC.

I have it running at 497mhz clock and 1414mhz memory speed. This thing is really nice.

I've always been a bfg fan, but I would be perfectly happy with the EVGA KO edition. It is very, very nice - and has a better cooling solution that any other air cooled 7800. In fact, I just ordered the AC3 cooling kit from EVGA's website that includes some nice ram sinks, and I'm gonna throw it on my BFG this week and see how much higher I can go.

If you look around the web, XFX cards have gotten good reviews from customers and tech sites. I think people are just jumping on the anti-XFX bandwagon. Anandtech says the new overclocked XFX 7800gtx is among the fastest 7800gtx boards out there. It is cheaper than the others.

XFX has improved a lot and is making top-notch graphics cards these days. if you say it hasnt', you're just not being fair
