You could probably throw a blanket over all the 7600GT AGP cards and not see more than a few percent difference in performance. XFX used to have a double lifetime warranty on their cards so it could be transferred if you sold it. They are running the clock at higher than default speeds and it should overclock beyond that. My 7600GT PCIe is runninbg at 650MHz core and 1650MHz memory. It's a shame the AGP cards are so expensive. I got my BFG 7600GT OC for $85 after rebate. I think you will be satisfied with the 7600.

It's got the tidgiest (and thus noisiest) fan compared to the other two I know of: Leadtek and Palit. On the plus side, the XFX has two DVI which isn't practical to retrofit whereas a heat-sink and fan assembly is. Performance should be the same. Dunno aboot the rest.

Any particular reason you are keen on the 7600GT for $160 though? I see the X1650XT which performs the same or better is $145 from that monger post-rebate (or $180 for 512MB which seems high but ain't an option on the 7600GT). Heck, the X1950 is only $200.

In any case, don't forget fatcash ;)

well I thought about getting a x1950pro, but with all the problems people are having I backed off on that one, even thou I figured my power supply was powerful enough.

I did find this one on newegg a x1650XT, so you think it a better deal than the 7600GT?

newegg x1650xt

I have a pent. 4 2.8G, with a 460 watt power supply, it's a older Dell XPS gaming rig

edit:
I see the x1650XT and 7600GT are about equal there:

What PSU have you got? I was likewise turned off by the high power requirements of the X1950 Pro and indeed general impression of problems. Perhaps the forthcoming 7950GT or even 8600 (hopes) will be better alternatives, at least if power is a concern.

these sounds like a good deal, but my power supply is the old 4 pin type, not the 6 pin type??????????now what?

I suggest avoiding HIS because of their virtually none-existant tech/RMA support... you would be much better off going with Powercolor or Asus. Otherwise the X1950Pro is the way to go for that price.
