Hi All,
If my rig is on for an hour or 2 and then shut down, when I boot the computer the screens (dual monitors) are all garbled. Wait about 30min then I can boot ok.
Also if the computer is on for a couple hours and I do a reboot, the computer comes up on the secondary monitor and it looks like the resolution is 640x 480 and 16 colors.

Maybe the power supply? If I disconnect the PCIex power cable from the video card I get the same results I did when I reboot.

If this sounds familar please let me know.

Here are my specs:
AMD X2 3800+
Abit AN8 32x mobo
1gig (2x512) Kingston HyperX DDR400
Four WD 250gig SATA drives
NEC DVD burner
PowerOne 525watt supply

Thanks in advance,
-quadcells

Easy way to tell if it's overheating: Watch the temp display in your nVidia control panel for two hours.

I'm willing to bet it's your PSU. Do you happen to have the ratings for the 5v, 3.3v, and 12v on hand?

Hi Raduque,

+5V = 35A
+12V= 14A
+12V2=12A
+3.3V=30A
Even tho Skyhawk claims this has Dual +12V, they are the same line so I don't see how thet can say +12V=14A and the second +12V =12A.
I check those temps in the Nvidia control panel and it reads 47C, and I tried blowing Freeze spray in the power supply after I shut down and the computer booted ok.
So it looks like the power supply.
What do you think of the Seasonic brands? I can't aford PC Power & Cooling supply.

Thanks again for your time.
