XFX 6800 AGP $143 AR @ Monarch

Great deal.

I'll never sell my 6800 if prices keep going down like this. Oh well, it's a nice fast card and I can live with it 🙂

I read a fatwallet thread on this where some one suggested it could be softmodded, for what thats worth. I've heard XFX sucks for customer support, but I've heard others say they were fine.

Either way, I was in the market for a 6600gt when this came up so I just jumped on it. Monarch is a good reseller too which is pretty rare for a hot deal.

VERY nice deal! I don't think you lose much with 128MB vs 256MB of video RAM either...maybe 4-5 FPS tops. (at least on most current games)

How much heat does a vanilla 6800 put out? I'd been considering a 6600 for my rebuilt Linux box but I might go for this instead.

Say what? Since when is the 6600GT faster than the plain 6800? At worst they're about even in performance, at best the 6800 opens a 10-15% lead due to much greater memory bandwidth (usually in higher res and/or AA/AF situations).

6800 would be an easy recommendation at the same price point. It has much more headroom for overclocking (quite a few seem to hit GT speeds or better) and has the possibility of even more free performance if you unlock the additional bank of pipes.

I jumped on this one, I've been looking to replace my 5900nu since I've been having some major performance issues while playing WoW.

Thanks OP!
