I've narrowed my choices down to these two card (unless someone else has any reccomendations).

XFX Geforce 6800:

XFX Geforce 6600GT:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814150080

Both are AGP.

Heres my Setup:

amd 3200 xp
win xp pro
400w power supply
western digital 160 gb hard drive
1024 ddr ram pci3200
sound blaster audigy ls sound card
ati radeon 9500 256 mb vid card
LG 12x dvd rw+-
lite on 24x cd burner rw
nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard

I've been looking at some benchmarks:

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/geforce_6600_gt_overclocked/default.asp

Which would you choose?

This is the same dilemma I have. My setup is a64 3000 (skt 754), with 1gb pc 3200 ram and fx 5900 xt. I am tempted to jump and get a 6800 gt. But I just don't know. Then again will an antec 350w ps be enough for a 6800 gt????

only $40 difference makes it a close one. I believe you could flash the 6800 into a 6800GT which would make this a rockin deal. Probably worth the $40 just for the chance.

I wholeheartedly agree. XFX is absolute garbage. MSI makes great GPUs and they overclock like a champ. My old MSI GeForce4-Ti4400 (275/275) overclocked to 330/325 and very stabily I might add.:)

DEAR GOD MAN, that is horrible info.

You can often times unlock extra pipelines to make the 6800 on par with the 6800GT. But with only 128mb of RAM on that 6800, it's not going to be the same.

Id say go for the 6600GT. Get a 6800 if you go for the 256mb version, but that's some more money. Go for the 6800 if you want to be running high res with some AA. Otherwise the 6600GT is plenty good.

MSI has been going downhill as of lately... I say you get a BFG 6800 or EVGA 6800. I have the latter and boy its been a beast
