To troubleshoot, I have a basic configuration including only the components I listed above.
My system will POST with an old Diamond Stealth 2500 PCI video card, and also with an ATI X300 PCI-e card a technician let me borrow to test the slot, but not the XFX card (the video card fan spins, but no POST).
As such, I figured a dead video card and ordered another. The new one arrived and the problem still exists.
The reason I ordered the same XFX card is my friend uses the K8WE with it and it POSTs fine (although he uses two non-dual-core CPUs, if that makes a difference?). I could find no mention online of anyone else having a similar problem. Have any of you heard of any compatibility issues?
Would you recommend that I flash to BIOS 1.02 to resolve this issue? My aforementioned friend is still on 1.01 btw.
While it's possible that I got two bad cards with the same problem, the odds suggest something else is the cause, and as such, I hope someone here could offer some much appreciated wisdom.
This is only my second system assembly, and I have much to learn, so it's possible I'm missing something obvious.
