Hi,
My brother recently bought a XFX 6600GT (AGP) card. He has the Jetway K8m8ms motherboard with the via chipset k8m800. He has a Antec 430 True Power PSU. He is running Windows XP SP2. Anytime we run a game, the video and sound lock up for 5-10 seconds at a time and then returns to normal. I noticed it only happened with 3d applications and so I tried a Windows 3d screensaver as another test. It also froze the computer momentarily. I've tried an array of Nvidia drivers, disabling and enabling fast writes, and Ive tried different 4in1 drivers. I also tried the Gart controller recommened by Microsoft(GAGPXXXX.sys) Ive even reinstalled Windows as a last resort. I used Rivatuner to turn the AGP down to 4x and it did improve the freezing(1-2 seconds instead of 5 or more). The Antec PSU is new so it actually froze with two different PSU's. So, do you guys think there is something I can change driver wise or is his card faulty? I'd like to get this fixed today so he doesnt have to send the card back. Thanks for your help.

the card might be faulty...since u have reinstalled windows, drivers, and also tried enabling/disabling fast-writes it might be a card problem...try putting the card in another machine

I wanted to try that but they only have one computer with an AGP slot :p Unfortunately Im about 3 hrs from home so I cant try it out on my computer. Im going to try to revert all of the drivers to the windows standard and see what happens. Maybe the Via 4in1 drivers are the problem. Im beginning to think its the card too though

ya i guess the only way to find out would be to try it on another machine...if it works there then it could be ur via drivers!
