Considering you can get a $99 dollars 5670 at NEWEGG, i'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying ZZF is pricing the product nonsensically?

Actually it's $110 for the 1GB version at Newegg, $99 is the 512MB one (although this is a card where the extra RAM won't do much)

Well there brand new. It'll take a few months for them to be priced where they should be. Not to mention there cheif competiton the GT240 GDDR5 is just as badly overpriced.

It's not retarded at all from a marketing perspective since many consumers understand very little about video card performance and so purchase based on price and appearance. It's a lot like the 5770 and 5750 are within about $20 from each other( though performance wise those are closer). Besides if these card were designed to replace the 4650 the price is set to induce people into buying out the old cards first. The range of prices on the 4650 is however pretty insane now($50-165).

Happy,

Probably going with a 5770.

hey for 155$ shipped (last time I looked) and there overclocking ability (4890 levels of performance), it's a good card.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm taking a good hard look at the benchies and overclocking of the 5830. If all goes well, I'll pick one up.
I'll do a comparison with my super 5750. :D

Edit: try and get one that comes with voltage tweaks. It's almost a garuantee 1000 core overclock.

Not sure if voltage tweaking is worth any extra cost though. At least with my card I have no problem with increasing the clock speed to 960 without artifacting. However the memory can't go as high without problems. Memory voltage is locked even on that asus voltage tweak card btw.

As of a few days ago, using Tom's Hardware hierarchy of video cards based on performance, the XFX 5670 is the fastest (best perfoming) card available in a single slot width package in the list - available from newegg.com.

In the list, it performs better than a GT240 by one level (not much), is DX 10 / 11 capable, and is available with 1GB DDR5.
Whereas the 9800GT and 8800GT (same level) may not be as new of technology, or available with the newest shader, or as much RAM.

My particular situation requires a PCIe single slot width card, but I want as good as I can get. I'll get the 1GB version, and I might get 2 of them, for separate computers now, but later on I could Crossfire them together in a single computer (when the situation changes).

so you will have a $240 crossfire setup that cant even match a single $140 card. lol

Tom's rankings of video cards is a good starting point, but you have to dig deeper to choose the right card for your purposes. This single-slot overclocked 9800gt for $70 would far exceed the performance of a 5670: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130450

As for the OP's comment, the 5670 is overpriced everywhere, and the one linked in this thread is a particularly bad deal. But if people buy it, that's their fault. I would also say the 5750 is overpriced, since it barely exceeds 4850 speeds. Heck, even the 5770 is overpriced compared to what you could get last year in that price range. So welcome to the new world of video cards...
