Xfire - any good?

a friend of mine wants me to switch to xfire mostly for voip, but i have been using teamspeak for a couple of years. so, is the xfire voip quality as good or better? also, do i need to setup a xfire server for voip?

thanks

I dunno how good Xfire is for voice, but it certainly is nice for finding buddies playing games, & text chat etc.

Its good for joining games friends are playing on. When I used to try to use it for VOIP it was pretty buggy. I have not tried it recently for voice though.

I havn't used xfire voip... but almost anything is a million times better than the sound quality on TS. TS has some nice features for things like chatting, and messaging each other easier. But the codecs for Ventrilo sound WAYYY better.

It has worked fine for me for VoIP. The main problems I have with it are the excessive "Latency between you and server, last message may have not been recieved" While pinging sub 100, 80s on my favorite servers. This is while using text, BTW. Seems to happen a lot more lately. Maybe the service is dying?
