Hello,

I have used my 2 free months of going over my 1024GB data cap and will most likely go over again this month @ $10 for every 50GB I go over.
I went to my local xfinity store to see what my options were. They said I could pay $50 extra on my current plan for unlimited data or they could switch me to xFi which would put me on the next higher tier and unlimited data for only a few bucks more then what I'm paying now. The only catch is I would have to use their xFi modem.
I have always owned and used my own modem and router and don't like the idea of having to use theirs which brings me to my question.
Could I switch to the xFi plan and leave their modem/router in the box and continue to use my equipment?
I'm guessing the answer is no, but I figured I'd ask.

thanks

There are some reports of people who have done that, on DSLR, and report success (thus far). I don't think it's entirely guaranteed, as they may do an equipment sweep every 6 months.

I've also heard stories about people getting triple-play, and not using their Comcast Digital Voice-capable EMTAs, and then losing their triple-play package and thus their discount, when Comcast discovered that they weren't using their equipment.
