Xfile on SLI Mobo?

Alright, just had to ask, you think ATI would ever release drivers so that Xfire worked on an SLI mobo? and if no, you think someone might release hacked drivers so that it could? (or vice versa, SLI in Xfire mobo?)

Someone once told me that you could run dual ATI on a SLI chip because all the Xfire chip does is make sure you have that proper cards for it.

I'm sure there is more to it though. Anyone care to clear this up?

I think I heard something like that. You can run SLI on non-sli chipsets too, I believe, even without the bridge connector, but you take somewhat of a performance hit.
