The card itself work fine but as far as I can tell none of the front ports work. I am getting power as the opitcal out shows a red light but none of hte ports seem to recognzie anything and the remote doesnt work. The cable is defnitely connected between the two. Is there anyway to tell if the soundcard is even recognizing the front ports, outside of plugging stuff in (headphones, optical in and red/white in dont have any response). Any suggestions outside of returning the card?
 
I haven't used something like this, but I think you need to connect power and the cable to the card, do you have both those connected?

Might want to check out creative's forums for more people who have actually used it.
 
both are connected, have sent an email into creative tech support (and actualy called them once), the first call was horrific (26 minute wait to find out that there were drivers on the cd not on the webpage and to install those, when that failed I had to call back but they closed for the night)
