Because some idiot nuked ours today. Being a sales and marketing office, we need to make many presentations. Even though we have 3 LCD projectors, it's sometimes easier to use overhead transparencies or if they are unavailable. Amazing how these little sheets of plastic things cost an arms, a leg, and left testicle. Until recently, the office picked up the cost. My boss realized that we were using up thosands of dollars worth of the stuff. He made it the responsibility of each group to pay for their own transparencies.

Seems some genius wanted to print tranparencies but didn't have any one hand. Some people seem ti figure that a piece of plastic is a piece of plastic. So what does he do? He takes the clear plastic covers used when people want to make spiral bound handouts. These things are brittle and cannot stand the heat of the finisher/fuser unit.

So guess what happens, the first one makes it as far as the fuser and melts. The second make it to the imaging drum. The plastic cracked and the rolling action didn't do the drum too much good. The next one kinda caught right behind the second. Then other one roll around the feed mechanism for the bypass. To finish it off, one last one pushed just past the bypass and crumped up in a crevice. This prevents me from engaging a lever that would pop out all the affected modules. The only way to get these out now is to take apart the machine.

All this happened despite large signs with a sample box and transparency. The words "USE THESE TRANSPARENCIES ONLY" were large enough for a blind person to see.

DOH!!!!
