xerox docuprint C8 & win2k

I have bought a docuprint C8 and initially it worked fine but after a problem I had the printer replaced and now it will not work in win2k.
I have deleted old drivers and loaded latest but no matter what I do win2k will not recognise the printer as present.
When I try it on my win98 system it recognises and works perfectly.
can anyone tell me the problem with win2k recognition of printers and how to get over this.
