Ok here is what happened! I signed on at 12:30am pst and it said DOTD was a Richoh Color Printer But their link was not working yet. Now at 3:00am pst it says it is a Xerox printer so i guess buy.com pulled a switchorroo on us Anyway i have edited my original post to reflect the DOTD!

The C20 is a nice little printer, but it DOES NOT go for $450. I don't know what's up with those prices. Only thing I can sayis people are mixing their pricing with the NC20 which is a 24MB Networked version of the C20 (via Ethernet). The C20 can be had for $117 here:

http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?productid=40270&affid=873&adid=873

So it's not as great of a deal as everyone things.

OfficeMax sells the C20 for $150 FWIW. At least they did when I went in and bought my HP930C, which I compared to the Docuprint C20.

And if anyone is interested, the C20 uses individual color carts which run about $40 for 2 if I remember correct. So you figure $60 for 3 color carts (1 of each color). It uses an LED to check ink useage and gives you some nice statistics. It also has a draft speed full quality mode which sounded nice. For $89 (after coupon), it's a real nice printer to have for text printing.

I don't know if anybody noticed the math error. It says "List Price $580.00 - You save $430.01!!" My math tells me 580 - 430.01 = 149.99, not 99.99.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

Can anyone currently owning this printer confirm (or deny) that it comes "out of the box" network ready? Or does one have to buy additional hardware in order to tie it into their existing intranet?

The advertisement says "Network Option", which to me makes it unclear whether it 1) comes network ready, or 2) has jacks such that with an external ethernet adapter, it could be attached tyo your network.

thanks!

Says there is an external ethernet "option"

Sounds like you have to buy more stuff to make it work on a network.

Out of the box, the C20 isn't network ready. The NC20 >IS<. That's why the NC20 is $500 and the C20 is $150 (as well as the NC20 has 24megs of RAM, the C20 only 8megs of RAM). Other then that, C20 and NC20 are identical.

There is no Windows 2000 driver for this printer. I can't find it from Xerox web site. Looks like a discontinued product.
