Don't know how this compares to that laser printer buy.com had a few days ago, but it doesn't seem too dirty from the picture. Lowest on pricewatch I found is $410 shipped so this looks like a sweet deal if you need it. It's $299.99 at buy.com, one of those Deal fo the Days. Says MSRP is $669. Use a $30 off coupon to lower your price to $270. 299 available.

HP LaserJet 3100XI

New printer they have for DOD is the Xerox C20 for $149.99 Add something small from the clearance store to bump it up so you can use 30 off 150 coupon to bring it to roughly $120. They say MSRP of $580, but lowest competitor $180? On pricewatch, the lowest I found this was $400+.

Here's the same printer for $105-$20 coupon makes it $85 shipped!(thanks to PUfreak)
Same Printer, Lower Price

This printer actually seems pretty kickass:

Superior Color Prints: Vibrant color and laser-sharp black text at 1200 Image Quality, ensure impressive business documents. With the optional six-color photo cartridge images in your documents will have enriched color saturation for photo-quality results. And with PostScript 2 and PCL 5C emulations you will get accurate, predictable output.
Robust Large-Format Capability: The DocuPrint C20 handles paper up to 12.6" x 22"/A3+ to print on more sizes of paper - from postcards to posters. Plus, the DocuPrint C20 prints on all types of media: envelopes, transparencies, iron-on transfers, index cards and more.
Convenient Network Option: External Ethernet Adapter gives all users in shared workgroups access to the benefits of color. And Xerox offers you more ways to manage printers on your network: CentreWare DP and CentreWare Sun OS/Solaris for printer installation and configuration, and PrinterMap for multi-vendor printer management.

Not bad - This one uses is the older Lesterjet 6L engine combined with a FAX machine. I was hoping for a hot deal on a LJ21000 or LJ4000 series but this one might do it since cartridge cores for my of Epson AL1500 are getting scarce and I have a thermal fax.

I was looking for a plain paper laser based fax machine. I did some research on this printer. It seems that HP had some problems with the feed mechanism pulling in multiple pages after about a year of use. They claim they fixed it with a kit though. The new model 3150 has a PCL mode also so you can print in DOS or Linux or something also, and is now networkable. Do any of you own this 3100 printer/FAX? How is it working? Respond ASAP the deal is over today.

Was looking at the 3100xi at the HP site...looks like the 3150 replaced it as mentioned above...

Interesting HP site lists it for $699...but you can buy it direct from HP at $499 :)

I could kick myself for passing up that laser printer last week. This one looks nice but a bit too pricey for me, unfortunately :(.

OK, I ordered it afterall. It was $299.99 with free shipping + the $30 of $150 purchase coupon, plus I went through Pointclick and put it in for a 5% rebate. -$15. I have done this with other items when it was 10% rebate and they approved me on several purchases. Go figure, it doesn't say they give anything. So it cost me $254.99
Am I cheap or what!

yellowperil - The HP 3100xi does a lot more than just laser printing, also sends/receives faxes, scans and copies. This was a little to much for my budget so I purchased the Canon Multipass C530 printer/scanner/fax/copier for $110 (after coupon/rebate) with free shipping.

todays - Considering PointClick will probably die and wither away, I suggested that my friend place their order through eBates. Granted it's only a 3% return instead of 5% but there are no "$1 check processing fees" and eBates has paid every single rebate check I had coming to me.

Actually, check the url, its the same one. I believe they only advertise one each day, but they make a few in advance. Their DODs are done the same was as their coupons were.

WTF? Weird, is this discontinued or something. That's a hella sweet deal then, around $85 shipped(free shipping till Wed) for an 8 ppm color printer with 8 mb of memory. Is there something seriously wrong with this printer we should know about? Hehe, it has a 33 mhz processor, just like my computer in the corner:).

That printer looks like it really sucks. At $85 though, you could make a killing if you could eb*y it. No Xerox C20's on eb*y at all though... maybe no one will buy them.....

After reading nothing but negative reviews of the Xerox C20 I would instead purchase the Canon Multipass 530 for $110 shipped.

Does anyone know if the Canon Multipass 530 has Windows2000 drivers?
