Xeon upgrade question

Interesting question for the folks here....my current work PC is a Dell Precision 670 with a Xeon "Cranford" processor running at 3.0ghz. Every new fiscal year we get in about 40 new pc's to upgrade existing ones. I have the option right now to upgrade to a Xeon 5060 which, from what I can figure, is really a dual core Intel "Presler" Pentium Extreme Edition, or I can wait a year for the next upgrades, knowing that I can do no worse, but probably get a much better "core 2 duo" version of the Xeon.

So, my question is, what kind of performance improvement should I see? And, should I upgrade now, or wait a year for the next round of new PC's at my work?

u could get the xeon 51xx series. Those are the core 2 duo versions and perform a whole lot better and consumes a lot less power.
Or if u wait a while longer u'll get xeon 53xx series chips which are quad-core.(they will be a lot more expensive without a doubt) but depending on the kinda of apps u use it could be useful.

Wait for the Xeon 53xx (Cloverton) series. It is just a repackaged Socket 771, Kentsfield but it should be a great performer. Especially if you get 2 of them :)
