Xeon or Opteron???

I am about to build a new system. I plan on doing a dual system and I'm wondering what would be better for me, a dual Xeon or a dual opteron configuration? Of course price matters but in the end I am more concernced with vaule based on my use rather than the final costs. Basically I do a wide range of tasks on my current system. Everything from programming, graphic design, rendering in 3D, web design, video editing, DVD decoding and encoding, and the occasional game (but very rarely). For the dual Xeon I was looking at the Asus PC-DL-Deluxe and havent found a board for the opterons yet. Anyone got any advice or things I should consider? Any ideas on a board for the opterons?

Thanks,
Derek

Opteron vs. Xeon

I'm not sure if the benchmarks there would represent what you would be using the system for, but overall its safe to say that the Opteron would be a better choice. I think it may even better a cheaper choice. Not quite sure on what boards to use, but that would be easy to find out.

personal i would run with a Opteron based box.
Most of the current benchies for the Opteron are BS!
Fact:NONE where done on a 64 bit OS
Fact:NONE where done with a 64 bit benchie Proggy
Fact: Opteron is the better deal by far.
