Guys,

I have bought SuperMicro X6DA8-G2 for XEON Nocona with 2GB RAM ECC reg (2x1GB chip), how can I determine that my current setting running Dual Channel Memory? I've put the memory on DIMM 1B and DIMM 2B.

Here is the Mobo layout for Memory Banks

---- DIMM 1B - Bank 1 filled
---- DIMM 1A - Bank 1
---- DIMM 2B - Bank 2 filled
---- DIMM 2A - Bank 2
---- DIMM 3B - Bank 3
---- DIMM 3A - Bank 3
---- DIMM 4B - Bank 4
---- DIMM 4A - Bank 4

I need you comment

Thanks

I'm not at all familiar with that platform but just use CPU-Z and it will show if it's running single or dual channel.

Going by the RAM busses internally being labelled A and B, I'd say you should fill 1A and 1B for dual channel.

You'll know when you see the difference using a low level RAM throughput test like good old CACHEMEM.EXE (run from pure DOS, google for it).
